About Us

Mary Kay entered the jewelry business in 1980, apprenticing under several talented jewelers. She completed the GIA Diamond Course and in 1990 opened a jewelry trade shop. In 1993 she moved her business downtown where she opened the retail side of her business. Her husband Gary joined her in the store in 1994 to handle the financial operations. In July 1998, Mary Kay and Gary leased a free standing building in a higher traffic area in Jefferson City on Missouri Boulevard. In November of 2002 Mary Kay and Gary's business was rapidly growing, so they moved once again to their present location in the Capital Crossing Shopping Center on Missouri Boulevard. The Blue Diamond specializes in custom designs and handles a complete line of fine jewelry. Mary Kay, Gary and several employees have won numerous awards in MJA and other jewelry competitions. Mary Kay and Gary have three children and are very active in their community.

Mary Kay entered the jewelry business at a young age, right out of high school. Mary Kay knew that she wanted to have a job that she could create one of a kind pieces, she is very creative and artistic. Mary Kay also loves to work with people, so the jewelry industry was the perfect home for her. Mary Kay's favorite part of working in the jewelry business is helping guys find that perfect ring to show his girlfriend how much she means when he ask her to spend the rest of her life with him, or seeing the ladies faces light up when they tell her how he proposed. Mary Kay has helped many different couple find that special piece that completes several chapters of their lives whether its for engagements, anniversary's, a new baby, birthday's, Mother's Day, Valentine's Day, or any occasion, each and every time there is a different memory made. Mary Kay has served 11 years (1998-2008) on the Board of Directors for Missouri Jewelers Association (MJA), serving 2 of those years as President (2005-2006). Mary Kay has been in the jewelry industry for 35 short years, working on the bench, on the sales floor, designing jewelry, attending jewelry shows across the country, attending seminars and traveling world wide to buy diamonds and looks forward to many more years of making wonderful memories!

Gary Kempker Sr.

In 1994 Mary Kay's business began to grow and she needed someone to handle the financial side of things while she was on the bench, so Gary decided to join her instead of hiring someone. Since Gary joined the business he has really enjoyed designing pieces for customers as well as jewelry competitions. Gary has won many different awards for his designs. His favorite part of it all is working with people to design that one of a kind piece that they have dreamed of and watching their faces light up when he makes their dreams become a reality! Along with designing jewelry, Gary is honored to have the privilege to join only a select few jewelers that have the opportunity to travel to Antwerp, the diamond capital of the world, to hand select the perfect diamond for our customers needs and wants. They have also had the opportunity to travel to Idar-Oberstein, Germany to buy colored gems. Gary has also earned his certification threw Jewelers of America as a Certified Gemologist.
